Now we know what is going on in the adolescent brain we understand that those ‘problem’ behaviours such as heightened risk-taking. poor impulse control, over self consciousness are the natural consequences of its growing and developing. What this profound phase of development in these particular brain areas and at this particular time means is there is a huge new capacity for adaption and change towards learning more complex tasks and the social development needed to enter the adult world.

With the the right conditions and interventions we can help our teenagers make the connections and grasp the concepts that can inspire learning and social development. Youth coaching embraces this opportunity by helping to untangle the lines of thinking and freeing the creative. Coaching interventions can approach these tangles and stucknesses with the awareness that with the right guidance the energy and resources can be aligned to self-manage the changing process more effectively and grow that self-confidence.
